Hearing of the disaster that has occurred in Haiti, I can't help but reminisce of Hurricane Katrina. Its painfully clear how different the Obama Administration has handled this crisis and highlights what a poor job the Brush Administration did. After the disaster in Haiti, aid was IMMEDIATELY sent to OTHER COUNTRY (Haiti). After the disaster in NEW ORLEANS aid wasn't received until THREE DAYS AFTER in THE UNITED STATES, within OUR OWN COUNTRY! Its unbelievable when you think about.
I've noticed a lot of compassion for the people of Haiti demonstrated here in America. People are teaming up with different organizations an flying over there to aid the cause. Also certain airlines are flying doctors and nurses over there for free to help. I've especially noticed compassion amongst the young people, people in my age group (18-25). People have been giving information of how to donate Via twitter, Blackberry Messenger, Facebook, etc. They are using these social networking tools to help a cause greater then themselves. To help people they have never seen, but through this disaster the people of Haiti has touch them. Even the younger kids who owns cell phones, can text 501501 and write Yele to donate $5 (everyone can do this). Although sometimes it seems humanity has lost its way, its in moments like this that remains me, there is always hope. If you don't like how the world is, start with yourself and change it.
